FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Things people usually ask before booking

  • Regular NLP focuses on techniques for communication, behavior change, and goal-setting — useful for some things, but it tends to work at the surface level. Transformational NLP goes deeper. It was developed by Jonathan Rice and Dr. Carl Buchheit at NLP Marin and draws on psychology, neurophysiology, and systems thinking to work at the level where patterns were originally installed — often in early childhood. The result isn't behavioral modification. It's that the underlying pattern changes. Most clients notice the difference within their first session.

  • They're a certified NLP Marin graduate. NLP Grad is the platform where graduates refer the people they care about — friends, family, colleagues — to each other. Your friend wanted you to find someone good.

  • Therapy helps you understand your patterns and process what happened. Transformational NLP changes the patterns at the source — where they were originally installed. Many clients work with a therapist and an NLP Grad practitioner at the same time and find the two approaches deepen each other. They're not competing. They work at different levels.

  • That's a fair question. Therapy through insurance is genuinely valuable and these practitioners aren't here to replace it. What Transformational NLP does is different — it operates at a level that talk therapy typically doesn't reach, which is why many clients do both. At the rates practitioners charge here, adding this alongside therapy is accessible for most people.

  • If you're in active crisis, managing a mental health emergency, or in the early stages of processing acute trauma, traditional talk therapy with a licensed therapist is the right first step. NLP Grad practitioners do not diagnose or treat clinical conditions — we're not a substitute for licensed mental health care. If you're stable and somewhere inside there's a readiness — a sense that something could shift — that's enough.

  • You stay fully present and aware throughout every session. This isn't hypnosis and nothing happens without your knowing or participation. You're in the driver's seat the whole time. What changes is that your brain gets to update information it's been holding since early in your life — with your conscious awareness, not around it.

  • Rates are shown per hour. Your first session runs up to two hours, so the total for a first session is double the hourly rate shown — $70 for Core, $130 for Masters, $190 for Holographic NLP I, $250 for Holographic NLP II. Follow-up sessions are one to two hours depending on what you're working on.

  • Practitioners on NLP Grad are building their practices within a trusted community — not on a high-overhead platform that takes 40–60% commission. That structure lets them charge less without earning less. You get access to seriously trained practitioners at rates that reflect the community, not the market.

  • That's okay and it happens. Reach out to us directly and we'll help you find someone who's a better fit. Part of what NLP Grad handles is making sure clients end up with the right person — not just the first available one.

  • Some people notice a meaningful shift in their first session. For specific, contained patterns, two or three sessions is common. For layered or longstanding patterns — things that have been running for decades — working with a practitioner over several months is where the deeper change happens. Your practitioner will be honest with you after the first session about what makes sense for your situation.

  • Not at all. Your friend probably told you enough. The rest becomes clear in the first session. Practitioners are used to working with people who are new to this — most clients arrive exactly the same way you did.

  • Yes. All sessions are over Zoom, which means practitioners work with clients across the US, India, Europe, and beyond. You just need a laptop or desktop, a stable internet connection, and a private space.
